Mickey Grant is an independent filmmaker (
A Gentleman’s Choice, China Run, The Cu Chi Tunnels, Destination Da Nang, and Friends of Ho and screenwriter (
Horse with No Name, Sacrificing Liberty) who has written, produced, and directed television, theater and many “cinema verities” a documentary like film style that is raw, gritty, and infuses real life and art’s imitation. Grant's works are deceptive on the surface and always much richer and more complex than they seem at first glance. Grant draws on his knowledge of other peoples and cultures (he is fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and Dutch) to give us a vision of life that transcends our all-too-often provincial outlooks; sometimes the results are unsettling, sometimes uplifting, but they are always rewarding.
Grant is also co-founder of CreativeHat.com, a filmmaking site dedicated to providing filmmakers with information ranging from tips to make you first film better, distribution, to getting the most out of film festivals.
A graduate of Southern Methodist University B.F.A (Radio Television & Film), he received his M.S. in Film from the University of North Texas State University, M.S. (Film). Grant was adjunct Professor of Film at the University of North Texas, a lecturer in Screenwriting at the University of Utracht, The Netherlands, and served as Script Doctor for over 100 independent films.
